1st June is World Milk Day, a global celebration recognising milk’s vital role in our diets and the dairy sector’s contribution to nutrition, sustainability, and daily living. From yoghurts and cheeses to lattes, sauces, custards and classic puddings, milk is a cornerstone of comfort and flavour in the British kitchen.
Many people often wonder, "Is milk good for me?" The answer is yes - for most, milk in your daily routine is a simple way to support bone health, muscle function, and overall well-being. Packed with calcium, protein and vitamin D, a daily glass of milk may also help regulate blood pressure and lower the risk of heart disease and stroke. Whether in a warming drink or a nourishing pudding, milk remains a wholesome, everyday staple worth celebrating.
Why not mark the occasion with a bowl of comforting RICE PUDDING - a creamy, calcium-rich dessert that is both gentle on the stomach and satisfyingly filling. Simply simmer 100g of pudding rice with 750ml of milk, 3 tablespoons of sugar, and a dash of vanilla in your Vela Milk Pan over low heat, stirring now and then for about 25–30 minutes until thick and creamy. Enjoy it warm or chilled, and for a flavourful twist, garnish with berries and crushed nuts, and a dusting of cinnamon on top.
